And.. now everyone knows (week 8)

This week has been an interesting ride. I was sick with a head cold which led to lots of throwing up and other disgusting symptoms coming from my nose and mouth. My mind is craving food that my body is now rejecting, and going to the grocery store has gone from being my favorite thing to do, to a dreaded task.

Today after church Phil and I went to the grocery store. We were looking for food that we could take to the Super Bowl party tonight and before I knew it I was death gripping my mouth to keep from showing everyone the watermelon and chex cereal I had for breakfast! Phil was frantically looking for a trash can or an emergency door while I just stood there with my hand over my mouth trying to swallow what didn't want to stay in my stomach. Lovely times, just lovely.

We went to a birthday party last night for a good friend. There were quite a few people there and I just couldn't pretend anymore. One friend, Jennifer, came over and asked "So what have you been up to lately?" and without knowing what else to say I just said "Oh, just being knocked up." Her reaction was sweet and before long everyone else knew too. It's nice to finally be able to share the excitement and the worries and all of the emotions involved.

Today at church we told a few more friends. A few had their suspicions already and were just waiting for us to tell, and some were completely surprised. Of course you get the unwanted advice of what you should eat (as if I have any control over that right now) and you hear everyone reminiscing of their pregnancy and such. It's nice to just be able to be myself now and not feel like a liar keeping it from everybody!

Since I'm a little late, here is the update for week 8:

*Your BabyThis week, your little tadpole is starting to look a little bit more human. Other exciting developments include:Your baby's eyelids, ears, upper lip and the tip of his soon-to-be adorable button nose are forming. Junior will also sprout webbed fingers and toes this week—which you'll be well aware of in a few months, as baby starts early gymnastics classes inside you.Baby's tiny heart has separated into four distinct chambers and is really ticking now—at a rate of 150 beats per minute. That's more than twice your resting heart rate (even when Brad Pitt is on the screen). Your baby is now a little more than ½ inch long, about the size of the rock in Eva Longoria's engagement ring, and is about as heavy as the check Tony Parker wrote to pay for it.*
