He Finally Felt Her :)

At 22 weeks and a half weeks. Phil said it felt like she threw a punch right in the middle of his hand! I've been feeling her from the outside for a little over 2 weeks now, but he was never able to feel it.

She's been doing funny things lately. She's pretty active most days, but yesterday she must have been really making herself at home. She was pushing her butt (I think) all the way over to one side against my stomach. When I was laying down it was like a baseball sized lump trying to push out of my lower left side! It's times like that I wish there was a window to see what she's doing. In my mind I imagine her doing the "downward dog" yoga position. That's what it felt like!

If you haven't noticed, I'm pretty smitten with her :)

My Diaper Stash and Other Things

Since we have decided to use cloth diapers for Lillian, I have grown quite the obsession! Who knew cloth diapers could be so darn cute? Here is the run down of what we've purchased so far:

2 recycled wool covers (similar to this, but not the exact one) that I bought from a local business Natural Elements

3 x-small Thirsties covers

3 BumGenius 3.0 One size diapers. I've registered for about 10 more in more girly colors. Hopefully we get more!

I bought these AIOs from the Etsy seller qtbunns

This AIO diaper came from the Etsy seller wahmykidz

This is my favorite of the whole stash, a cover from the Etsy seller crazywonderful
One size Muttaqinbaby diaper

12 unbleached Indian infant prefolds from a local store Barefoot Baby and 2 snappis (we'll buy at least 12 more prefolds and 2 more snappis)

I have a huge diaper registry going at the Barefoot Baby store here in town. (http://www.barefoot-eco.com/) They have so many to choose from, so I registered for a pretty wide variety of sizes and brands of cloth diapers. Most of the diapers I'm purchasing now are either newborn or small sizes, and we're registering for the rest. I'm sure we'll end up buying most of them for ourselves since our family and friends don't understand why in the world we would choose cloth over paper diapers!

If cloth diapers don't excite you as much as they excite me, here's another little purchase we made for Lillian - her going home outfit :) (click on the pics to enlarge)

We'll probably find some cute white frilly socks to go with the outfit. Honestly, pictures just don't do it justice! This is the first thing I bought as soon as we left the doctors office when they told us we are having a girl.

21 weeks, 4 days

Today we are getting new carpet in all of the bedrooms... which means we can start the nursery! I'm so excited to put it all together. We have everything except one bookshelf that I haven't picked out yet.

Lillian has been very active lately. I always wonder what she's doing in there. The only thing I can come up with is stretching, getting comfortable, and playing. I think at night she likes to play... when I'm trying to sleep :) I don't mind now, but when she gets bigger it might be a little more difficult to sleep!

Here's a little info about this week:

Chances are good you're feeling someone performing a round-off back handspring in your uterus by now. Is there any other feeling this cool?

Other highlights this week:By now your baby looks like a mini-version of what she'll look like when she's born. All her facial features are formed and hair is growing on her head. She's even acting like a baby and will occasionally suck her thumb or yawn. Aww ...

Baby's heartbeat is getting stronger and can be heard using a good old-fashioned stethoscope. Ask for a listen at your next prenatal visit! By 21 weeks, fetal bone marrow starts making blood cells—previously done by the liver and spleen.

This may not sound that exciting, but it's good news. The amniotic fluid that has been cushioning your little bean now serves another purpose: Your baby uses it to "practice" chowing down. Yes, it sounds gross (as many aspects of pregnancy do), but it's an important step for your baby toward being able to chow down in the real world. Your baby has been swallowing amniotic fluid for a while now, but now the intestines are finally developed enough that she's absorbing small amounts of sugars from it. And let's face it, being able to effectively digest sugar is important at every stage of life.

Your baby now weighs between 10 and 11 ounces and is approximately 7 inches long—the size of a delicious, cold, frothy bottle of root beer. Float anyone?

Update to L&D Visit

Phil and I went to see the high risk OB in Indianapolis yesterday. After the ultrasound he came in to tell us that everything looked fine. He thinks my fluid looks less, but not low enough to be concerned. He also said my placenta is large and healthy and probably making it difficult to see all of the amniotic fluid. Lillian's kidneys are functioning properly, and she should be producing more fluid over the next couple of weeks.

WHEW!

My regular OB called last night and said he still wants us to cancel our cruise. The bleeding that I had on Saturday was enough for him to still be concerned, and he would prefer that I take it easy and continue to be monitored. I'll have another ultrasound at his office in two weeks to make sure the fluid is increasing. He's also going to call the Dr. at my local hospital that viewed the two ultrasounds over the weekend since he is the one that was very concerned with the low levels of fluid.

I'm so grateful to have a doctor that cares so much about my well being, and the safety of our baby. We are also grateful for so many prayers from friends and family. Hearing the good news was like finding out we're pregnant all over again! There's just no way to describe how relieved and happy we were to know that Lillian is alive and well and so far has no complications.

I'm still a little concerned about the possibility of a small leak (probably just being paranoid) so I'm taking the rest of this week off work, and possibly next week.

THANK YOU to everyone that kept us in their thoughts and prayers!
